In my Last Blog Post I stated that “Living from a place of profound authenticity involves being rooted in your deepest beliefs, values and truth, and living a life that is a true reflection of them.” Sounds easy doesn’t it? Why then is there such a conflict for people of faith who are same sex attracted and or “gay identified Christians”?
In the last seven years of my post gay experience one of the observations I have made is that for many sincere “gay identified Christians” their feelings often trump truth. Some take it a step further and manipulate truth to justify their sexuality or gender preferences. Others live in conflict between their attractions, feelings and desires and striving to please God. In my own experience I have wrestled with the following questions in order to resolve my faith and sexuality.
Who is God? Who is Jesus? What is my relationship to them?
What is truth? How should I respond to Truth?
What is sin? Is my sexuality sinful?
How do I define marriage, sexuality and gender? As a Christian is it possible for me to embrace any other definition than the Biblical definition of these three things?
I think these are crucial questions for every Christian to resolve regardless whether one is gay identified or not. I want to invite you do some honest soul searching and take the first step of the journey with me to resolve your faith and sexuality. Will you take some time to determine; Who is God? Who is Jesus? What is your relationship to them?
I welcome meaningful conversation and questions on faith and sexuality. Thanks for following my Journey!
